illuminance Solutions have been running several training programs for Indigenous Australians in collaboration with UniHall (UWA) since 2018, and now illuminance Solutions and The University of Notre Dame Australia have teamed up to tackle digital literacy in Broome’s Indigenous community. The tailored training programs will teach people the basics of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel in addition to use of online services, general search engine and research basics. The first of four training sessions in 2020 will roll out at the university’s Broome Campus in February this year and be taught by illuminance Solutions’ staff on site, and the training sessions are open to students as well as all age groups in the Indigenous community.
Digital literacy is essential for all Australians, and illuminance Solutions answered to the awareness week National Reconciliation Week in 2018 with the launch of illuminance Training’s program to teach essential technology skills for improving basic digital skills and introduction to Microsoft Office 365 software.

The University of Notre Dame Australia has one of its three campuses in Broome, and ranked number one in Australia for overall quality of undergraduate educational experience in the Student Experience Survey (June 2018). There are about 160 students enrolled in the Broome campus, which specialises in nursing, Aboriginal studies, Vocational Education and tertiary pathways.
